The New Life Charitable Trust - a helping hand
The New Life Charitable Trust is a registered non-government, non-religious and non-profitable social service organization established in 1991, with the sole objective of serving two segments of neglected people in distress, the old and the parentless who are orphan and destitute. Since then New Life has traversed a long and strenuous course and has transformed itself into a saga of dedicated service to the cause of humanity. The New Life Charitable trust was started with the definite aim of securing the well being of old people and today has spread its wings in taking care of orphan helpless children as well. It has been serving the inmates through its various activities programmes and projects. Since then there is no looking back for New Life we have progressed slowly but steadily leaving following milestones behind.

Road to Village in 1992:
The New Life Charitable Trust started a movement in Eraiyur Village, located in Sriperumbudur, Tamilnadu, India to render a selfless service to parentless and the old. The village is 50 kilometer away from the Cosmopolitian City of Chennai, and 21 kilometer from Sub-urban town of Tambram, and was not connected with road. In 1992 with repeated efforts with Public Welfare Department, a road was laid to Valiam via Eraiyur and now has public bus is plying on the route, enabling the village population to have good communication with city.
Basic Health Care in 2001:
The New Life Charitable Trust Home in Eraiyur village is 21 kilometer from sub-urban town of Tambram. The first hospital giving basic care was around 9 kilometer away from our home, for any emergency, the inmates had to be brought to Tambram some 21 kilometer for treatment. In year 2001, New Life Medical Center was inaugrated by Mr. T.P.Radhakrishnan, Secretary, VHERDS (Voluntary Health Education and Rural Development Society). The Medical Center has visiting Doctors twice a week supplying free medical check-ups and medicines. Weekly camp is organised under the leadership of Dr. M. Gopalaswamy in netwrok basis through which about 25 doctors visit the Camp on turns and provide free treatment and medicines to the inmates and the villagers.
Water Supply in Drought Hit Village in 2001:
The village Eraiyur has absolutely no yield of ground water. The New Life Charitable Trust along with Panchayat Board Leader worked with VHERDS (Voluntary Health Education and Rural Development Society) who donated a 5 HP motor, dringking water was brought to the village.
New Building for Housing Inmates in 2005:
All the inmates since inception of The New Life Charitable Trust, were housed under thatched roof mud houses. For long 13 years the desire for a basic good house was a dream and the requirement saw the light in 2000 when a foundation stone was laid for a pucca concrete building on a 5000 square feet. The dream house was completed in 2005 with help of NRI’s of DHUBAI through MRS.UMA VIJAYARAGHAVAN working for UNILEVER and MR.VIJAYARAGHAVAN working for AON Insurance brokerage DHUBAI. Almost 50% of the building was only with their efforts and many more philanthropic minded persons like MR.T.L.CHANDREN SINGAPORE Dr.Malini Chandrasekaran Doha, and many others as per the list embossed in the Thanking page. we express our heartfelt thanks to all the donors who made it possible. The happiness of the inmates could not be expressed in words but only felt.
Boys Stay Room in 2006:
As per the Government Of Tamilnadu’s directive after Kumbakonam Fire Tragedy, we have to dismantle the existing thatched roofs in a short period by March 2006. Hence we have started to construct the Boys Stay Room with an estimate of Rs 3 to Rs.3.5 lacs funded by an NRI of DHOHA and are expected to be completed by February 2006. Thanks are extended for his support. In appreciation of his effort we would like to emboss his name in the structure of the building.
